Only a handful of wagons are still sold new in the US, and nearly all come from luxury brands: Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volvo, and Porsche. They split into two groups: lifted all-weather wagons built for everyday life, and some of the fastest family cars ever made.

Lineups change every model year, and a brand can add or drop a wagon at any time; this reflects the 2026 US lineup.

The everyday wagons.

The Audi A6 allroad, Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain, and Volvo V60 Cross Country are built for real life: standard all-wheel drive, extra ground clearance, and tough cladding around the wheels. The Mercedes can raise and lower its air suspension, and all three drive like the sedans they are built from while carrying far more. They are the answer for a family that wants SUV space without SUV handling.

The performance wagons.

The performance wagon is a car-world favorite for a reason: the power of a supercar with room for a dog, a stroller, and a week of luggage.

Audi RS 6 Avant performance: the benchmark. A 621-horsepower twin-turbo V8, quattro all-wheel drive, and widened fenders, with 0 to 60 mph in about 3.3 seconds. It is the car that reopened the US to performance wagons.
BMW M5 Touring: the first M5 wagon BMW has ever sold in the US. A twin-turbo V8 plug-in hybrid making 717 horsepower, with all-wheel drive that can send its power to the rear wheels.
Mercedes-AMG E 53 HYBRID Wagon: a plug-in hybrid inline-six with up to 577 horsepower and some electric-only driving, the first E-Class AMG wagon sold new in the US since the E 63 S.
Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo: the electric option. Every version is quick, and the Turbo and Turbo S versions rank with the fastest-accelerating cars on sale, with a raised ride height for rougher roads.

Recently gone, still loved.

Mercedes-AMG E 63 S wagon: a 603-horsepower twin-turbo V8 wagon sold new in the US through the 2023 model year, and still one of the most sought-after used wagons.
Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon: a supercharged V8 wagon sold from 2011 to 2014, now a collector car.

What the names mean.

Avant: Audi's word for a wagon.
Touring: BMW's word for a wagon.
Estate or Wagon: Mercedes-Benz, depending on the market.
allroad, Cross Country, All-Terrain: a lifted wagon with extra ground clearance and all-wheel drive.
Cross Turismo and Sport Turismo: Porsche's wagon-shaped Taycans.
Shooting brake: a sleeker, often lower wagon with a coupe-like roofline, like the former Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake.
