What is car financing?

Financing a car means a lender pays the dealer for the vehicle today and you repay the lender in fixed monthly payments, with interest, over a set number of months. You own the car and hold the title once the loan is paid off; until then the lender holds a lien on it.

The four numbers that make your payment.

Every car payment comes from the same four inputs. Change any one of them and the payment moves.

What LTV means and why lenders care.

Loan-to-value (LTV) is the amount financed divided by the vehicle's price or book value. Put 10% down on a car and finance the taxes and fees, and your LTV usually lands a little over 100%: you are borrowing slightly more than the car's price.

Lenders price risk by LTV band. The more of the deal you borrow, the higher the rate tends to be, and every lender has a ceiling beyond which it simply declines. That is why more down payment or trade equity can unlock both an approval and a better rate.

Where you can get financed.

Broker Black shows you an estimated payment on every car, built from real-world lending math and your city's exact taxes and fees, before anyone runs your credit. That means you walk in knowing what a fair deal looks like.

Quick answers.

Do I need perfect credit to finance a car?

No. Lenders price across the whole credit spectrum; a lower score generally means a higher rate and tighter limits on term and LTV rather than an automatic no. Different lenders treat the same profile differently, which is why it pays to compare.

Does getting quoted a payment on Broker Black affect my credit?

No. Broker Black estimates use the credit range you enter, your location's taxes and fees, and real lending math. No social security number, no credit pull. A hard inquiry only happens when you actually apply for financing.

What is the difference between APR and interest rate?

The interest rate is the cost of borrowing the money; APR is the annual cost including certain financed fees, expressed as one comparable number. On most auto loans they are identical or very close.
